Festival "Les Nuits Musicales de Mazan"

On the occasion of the "Les Nuits Musicales de Mazan" Festival, the Château Pesquié hosts two concert events:

Saturday October 31, 2020 at 11 a.m.
Complete Mozart's 4-Hand Sonatas

These sonatas date from the latter part of the life of Mozart, in his early thirties at the height of his genius. Mozart's music, be it expressive or energetic, light, harsh, elegant or austere, reveals the expectations, the hopes, the dramas that marked his life.

Mozart’s art is "both a culmination and a beginning, a conclusion and a departure to new and splendid discoveries." Boris de Schlœzer.

The duo will perform on a copy of the Anton Wlater fortepiano from 1790.

"Say, what entertainment do you have for tonight?"
What mask, what music?
How could we brighten up This idle time, if not with some pleasure? "
William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream, V, I

The first impression given by the English repertoires of the 16th and 17th centuries. is that of great originality, apparently preserved from any foreign influence. English musicians were not, however, completely isolated from their colleagues on the continent. Numerous contacts were established between them, as evidenced in particular by the borrowing and adoption of musical forms of foreign origin - the pavane and the gaillarde, the madrigal, from Italy -; the presence of foreign instrumentalists at the English Court; the wide distribution of continental directories in the manuscripts and printed editions of the period.

May the Consort Brouillamini thus restore to you the exceptional diversity of English instrumental repertoires, and bear witness to the fascinating riches and the abundant vitality of these two centuries of music!

Guillaume Beaulieu, Virginie Botty, Elise Ferrière, Florian Gazagne, Aránzazu Nieto Vidaurrázaga
